Marcus Garvey once said that: “If you have no confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life.” Indeed life brings challenges and obstacles that we continue to overcome everyday and confidence is the key that could lead us to achieve life’s purpose and life-fulfillment. However, confidence doesn’t come as easy as it may seem. It’s not something that you can just pull out of the closet and wear anytime you want – that’s the sad truth. At times, we struggle too much to reach perfection in order to feel confident with ourselves, but that shouldn’t be the case. It’s your insecurities that you’re feeding, not the self-assurance.
How can I say so? It’s because I’ve been there myself. Though, I realized that, who am I kidding? There’s no point in lying especially to myself. Especially when the time came that I was left to stand on my own. It takes great courage to admit it even to ourselves, but in one point or another we really did strive for perfection – yet no one is perfect. The fact is, you don’t have to be perfect in order to prove your self-worth; you just have to accept your flaws. You have to dig it deeper within you and once you realize it, then it’ll certainly come naturally. In everything that we do; job interviews, work, and school and even in relationships, we all have to be confident in order to bring out the best within ourselves.
The big question is HOW? Here, let me share to you the simple things that I do everyday to boost self-confidence.
1. Indulge In Positivity
First rule: Be optimistic. Having a positive attitude in facing life’s journey is a great way to attract good things to come your way. No matter what life brings you, you just have to look at the bright side and think that there’s a reason for everything. Indulge in positivity and start with the way you look at things and what you think about them. Negativities will give you no good, it’ll just slow you down. If there’s something that doesn’t seem to go your way, pause for a moment, close your eyes and take a deep breath.
2. Start Your Morning With A Smile
Waking up into a new day is another chance given to you in order to fulfill your life’s endeavor – not everybody’s given the same chance, so better make the most out of it. Given this, the best things that you could do to kick start your day with such vibrant spirit, don’t forget to smile. Smile is the best accessory that you could ever wear your whole life and it’s best worn right after you wake up. It could set your mood for the day and it could also set your mind to be enthusiastic in order to accomplish your tasks. Share your smile to everyone to inspire them and certainly you will feel lighter. You should learn how to feel happier at the present moment.
3. Pamper Yourself In Looking Good
As what they say, when you look good, you feel good. Given this, you should pamper yourself in looking good. Treat yourself in little things such as a new haircut, dye your hair or wear clothes that you’re most comfortable of. If you’re comfortable wearing make-up, then do it. Or if you have your favorite shoes and you feel good everytime you slip them on, then use it everyday. Being uncomfortable on something will just set you in bad mood that could ruin your entire day – instead wear what suits you best. Don’t bother yourself on what others may think of you – their opinion doesn’t count.
4. Give Yourself A Hug
Who says that hugs can only be done when you have someone with you? It’s not true – even you can hug yourself. Just before you head out the door, wrap your arms around you and give yourself a one big hug. It’s actually an act of self-love and assurance that no matter what happens, you have faith in yourself. The feeling of comfort that you provide yourself would boost your trust that you can do it and you can be the best. Make it a daily habit and you’ll see the difference soon enough.
5. Get Enough Bedtime
Sleep is very important and that’s without doubt. Go to bed early at night and wake up early. Follow a sleep-wake cycle as well as best sleeping routines in order for you to indulge in a deep and sound slumber. It could set your mood the following day and help you jump start your day. Getting a good quality of sleep could reduce stress levels and keep you healthy which you’ll need to perform your tasks with full energy. Being healthy could help you feel good, look good and confident that you can handle things that may come your way.
So now, are you ready to bring out the best in you and face the challenges of life?
